Peri-ampullary cancer: the growth of tumor in the ampulla, a passage of bile duct in the intestines. From the liver, bile duct supplies bile to the intestine, the liquid which digest the food in-take of a person. If the ampula has a tumor, bile doesn’t flow in the intestines resulting in inflammation of the bile duct.
Whether you have all the means in the world, it might be too late to prevent it. There is a not-so-fair fact: the cause of the condition is still unknown. It is sometimes mistaken as hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, or liver cancer.
For every 100,000 people, only 100 develop the illness. And Rudy Fernandez was one of those people. After 2 years of battling the disease, he passed away at 6:15 AM saturday, June 7, at his home in Joeylane Street in White Plains in Quezon City.
Read here the chronological list of the whole ordeal of his battle.
I am not his fan primarily because I am not in his generation. But oddly I took interest to watch his 2 flicks yesterday, Kung Kailangan Mo Ako and Vigilante in Global Cinema yesterday (it’s a weekend here) instead of catching any movies from my DVD queue. Global Cinema normally has a list of movies, old and not so old ones, to be aired in a month. Maybe it is because of Rudy Fernandez’s death that his flicks are now being shown out of the schedule. This afternoon I learned from the net that he actually signed a contract with ABS CBN before he passed away to have all his movies enthrusted to the network for showing.
His wife said, “He had a life well-lived, a life well-ended.”
Memories of his friends and family here.
