July 18 sunset, Corniche Beach overlooking Marina Mall.
Hours after my post-birthday celebration, my friends (guests) from Dubai decided to go to Emirates Palace: that is to check the Picasso exhibit and the well-publicized golds and architectural extravaganza inside the Palace (will cost at least USD 27/person to view the entire palace, some areas are open for viewing for free). Lucky us (rather than saying we’re not), we were not allowed to get in since there was an exclusive event held last weekend. We went to the newly opened beach at the Corniche instead. Just in time to catch the sunset.
I am naturally drawn to taking photos of sunset for no particular reason. I don’t know what’s with it, but I do wish that I begun to take one so long ago. It’s interesting to compare shots in different places. These are my treasured ones so far because I caught them in passing and without any editing made:
Bacolod Sunset, January 2006. I took these while on my way to the hotel in San Juan, Bacolod, from a weekend get away in Mambukal Falls.
Lulu Island Sunset, April 2008. Chanced when we were leaving this beautiful beach in Abu Dhabi. Eased the tired feet.
Each rising and setting of the sun must be worth the shots. But there’s something about the sunset that is more appealing. It may connote togetherness, loneliness, serenity, happiness, whatever the case may be.
Any sunset thoughts and/or memories?

I think it’s also because there’s a relationship to poetry and sunset. I find sunsets calming. I have a couple of sunset shots too, and I’ll try to post them on my photo blog.
Your photos are really beautiful.
Thanks, Kayni. I remember you have a breathtaking sunset photo in one of your recent posts. What’s the URL of your photo blog? I’d love to check it.

Hi Rico! I wish to find the means to view the photos in Flickr of Sheng’s hubby. Photography is definitely worth exploring. With a friendly and good camera of course.
