Dubai is almost 1.5 hours drive from Abu Dhabi. Except for my Ski Dubai sidetrip, the rest of my visits there were work-related. Most of the time, my friends/former officemates based there take their turn to come here. I almost didn’t note that the last time I came was in April when we had the company annual party in Al Sahra Desert. My turn to see the other fence. Some of the things that happened as I spent the weekend in Dubai:
(a) Met up with my good friend’s sister and helped her scout a place to stay. We’ve inspected the units I’ve marked from the net. She came to Dubai a week ago and will be based there for work. We’ll hang out again when she does visit me in first weekend of November. Feels like I’m excited to give her a glimpse of Abu Dhabi. I’m thinking of taking her to Lulu Island.
(b) Met up with my friend’s girlfriend (incidentally is now my friend, too; you know that thing, being friend with some of your friend’s friends and of course, with your friend’s girlfriend/boyfriend). She’s one of the first ones I’m supposed to see during my first month in UAE. Primarily because her boyfriend asked me to hand over something to her. But for some odd (and ordinary) reasons, our schedules didn’t jibe. I’m glad that something is non-perishable or else it’s rotten now.
BUT, I think, err, obviously, I’m uberly late to give that something to her. Cause they’re no longer together. Gosh, friend. I’m deeply sorry. I learned my lesson: time is of the essence. So before finally meeting up with her, I informed him that I’ll finally give that to her (who is now his ex-girlfriend). And I informed her about giving her the stuff from him. I didn’t feel, see, hear any objection from both parties. So, I presumed that it was a go signal. Now, I’m serving not exactly like Ms. Cupid. But like a bridge, asking how they are and how they can probably still work it out. I’m an independent party. Whatever happens, I remain a friend to both of you, k?
(c) I’m supposed to meet up with another good friend. But deferred it. Hindi kakayanin ng powers ko (time constrained). Glad that he and his family are actually spending the holidays back home, too. And he said, “We will and shall definitely see each other cause I’m officially asking you to be my child’s godmother.” Yay! A christening in my list this December.
(d) Bujurman became a meeting point. While waiting, I wandered a little and was amused to see the chica stairs. It was pink-themed because October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The mall’s third level reminded me of Trinoma because of the landscape. But the wooden ceiling was unexpected. I think it’s cute especially in the photo.
(e) My plan to get one next month materialized a little earlier. Since the price was reasonably slashed, I bought a new toy. I’m naming him ‘Preppy’. Last night, I was reading the manual and I’m so excited to try it right away. Preppy would be well-utilized in my HK-Macau trip (I’m doing a four-day stop over from my Dubai-Philippines flight) this December + intended gatherings. Much to capture. Haay, I’m excited to do my first preppy documentary film.
(f) While I was in this techy store and still weighing the specs of my new toy’s species, there’s this -i-don’t-know-how-to-call-guy (not a Filipino, another customer) who took shots of me using his personal cam. I’ve no idea how many times, but as soon as I knew I gave him the look and frown that could kill. Because I was so engrossed picking up the new toy, I didn’t realize that I should have asked the good looking yet idiot guy to delete my photos. He has no idea that I’m blogging about the incident… and eeeek! chances that he’s blogging or have uploaded my photos. I should have taken a stolen shot, too, so I can upload it here. Huhu, how about my anonymity?
(g) I dined in this Filipino fastfood that I so missed. Finally, a Pinoy gravy.
How’s your weekend?

I’m intrigued as well. My first encounter of that kind (for all I know), what about the discreet shots. Lol. I hope you found your tea soon.
As to where to spend your holidays, I hope you’ll be able to decide in time.

I never thought old and new friends and I would be gathered in UAE. I haven’t met up yet with a number of highschool and college friends. Sure, I’d be happy to be your tour guide.
The walk for a cause must be so satisfying. The Firm have joined the Terry Fox Run months ago. Maybe I should join next year.

It was a tiring but good weekend.
I’d be happy to see my friends to be back in each other’s arms. Only time can tell.

I’m still trying to discover my new toy. So far I’m just done tying the strap and lens cover and installing the software. I’ll get a run around this weekend. Enjoy your new toy, too!

Yes, we dined in Jollibee. Heehee, kakamiss. I’ll probably blog about my new toy next week. It’s still resting, I’m slowly navigating it.
Yes, I switched to another theme again. Haha. But I have a feeling that I’ll now stick around with this one. But, of course I’d still be tweaking the page randomly. I’m becoming interested in CSS.

The stairs looked like there’s a party, that there’s a debutante. Take care, too.

those pictures are great!
once a guy i was sitting next to in a bus took pictures of me (rather stealthily) using his camera phone. it annoyed me so much i turned my back on him and covered my face with my hair.
my weekend was spent watching Heroes, and I’m in love with Mohinder Shuresh.

That guy was scary, huh. I’m so clueless about Heroes. I had a copycat DVD when I was still in the Philippines. I haven’t got to watch it. Now, there’s a cute guy pala. I should catch up. Lol.

Some of my recent posts are linked to Flickr, which is blocked in UAE. Found a means to access the forbidden.
