Going around in circles

After new year’s eve, I was contemplating about this part in one of my favorite books.  And whichever time of the year, I love remembering and realizing it:

None of us enjoys going around in circles, always passing through the same territory and coming back to the same problems, same frustrations, same mistakes, and same limitations.  Although it may often feel like it, there is never a time when nothing is happening in your life.  That’s because whether you realize it or not, you are never standing still.  You are either going forward or you’re sliding back.

Take care, everyone.

Your post reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from The Wonder Years: “Life isn’t a series of straight lines, it’s one of advances and retreats.” Thanks for sharing your wonderful version. :)

wonderful food for thought. i was just thinking how boring my life is and that everything is at a stand still. now, i know i am not at a stand still anymore – i am probably evolving into something else.

i agree with you. this post reminds me of a book passage: “we do without doing and everything gets done” — or something to that effect. i suppose this is why it’s called “the circle of life” :)

Sa akin naman, it reminds me of Forrest Mom’s explaination about life. “Life is like a box of chocolate. You don’t know what you’re getting until you taste it”.

I also had my moments that I find life monotonous. This book made me look at things/ situations in a better way. ;)

We should always be looking to the future. But there are times when we just have to stay so still and let the course of life take place. :)

Yes. Sometimes there are situations wherein it would be best if we will do nothing. But it doesn’t mean that we’re just standing still. ;)

I used to worry a lot especially when I was still younger. Glad I’m up to my senses now (I mean, years ago). :)

I like that line (and of course, the film!). Life is random. :)
