Haunted by the Past

in Bizarre, Life

past
Originally uploaded here.

(No, this is not a scary a post.  Not really Halloween related, just the title.)

All of us are planting something in our lives every single day, whether we realize it or not.  And we are always reaping whatever we have planted in the past.  The quality of our lives right now is the result of what we planted and harvested in some time before.  We reap the good and the bad for years after we have sown.  That’s why it is so important to plant and nurture the right seeds now. - From the book given by my best ever friend, The Power of a Praying Woman.

I grew up thinking that the issues faced by anyone would be vicios unless the root cause is dealt with.  That is ironing things the right way, no running away, or else you will find yourself going around in circles.  I had my share of circling especially during younger years.  Until I reached the point of not really giving up, but trusting to the One and with time, the things which are beyond my control.

But what about someone’s unfinished business or unresolved issues during his lifetime?  I have been busy with this kind of thought especially a decade ago.  Perhaps I was hungry for rationalizations then that even the ideas not for my age, or those that are completely bizarre, I was interested to get in… at least only in my mind.  Combining logic and other beliefs, I concluded that unresolved issues will be passed on biologically.  That is whatever the offspring is experiencing is the result of the kin’s actions.

I never realized that I have limited my thoughts to a sole life.  Until I read Jaime Licauco’s theory.  He is very active with innermind quest and is conducting regression classes.  He and his group is assisting people who wishes to know their past lives.  In one of his classes, there was a woman who is grieving for his partner’s infidelity and found out that in her past life, her husband was actually a woman and she was then the womanizer.  Role reversal.

In another class, there is a mother who hated one of her sons so much even for no reason at all.  She learned that she was an african slave in her past life and that master that gave her hard time is now her son.

The behavior can either be positive or negative because both great hatred and great love bind us to another person.

If you love somebody very much, you are bound to meet that person again in another lifetime. And, if you hate somebody very much, you are also bound to meet that person again in another lifetime.

So, if you do not want to meet your enemy again in your next life, better forgive him now and release him to his/her highest good. Otherwise, you are bound to meet that person again—and again, until you learn to forgive and release all things.

Happy Halloween, everyone.

Nice theory…I wonder what I was in my past life…
Your pic reminds me of a post I did before “Pano kaya kung may Ctl z ang buhay?” Makes one think whether, given the chance, you would really delete your past.

Yes, it’s like a Control + Z. I’ll try to check that related post. :)

I have always found the idea of past lives very interesting. They say that our past finds a way to catch up with us so we should always try our best to lead good lives and avoid causing pain to others.

I agree to that line that the past finds a way to catch up with us. There’s nothing like an unfinished business. Enjoy the weekend!

I loved reading this post. It reminds me of the book Many Lives, Many Masters by Brian Weiss (fascinating stories of regression therapy).
That is a wonderful point to bring up about people you hate. I will certainly keep that in mind :)

That did struck me, too. “… both great hatred and great love bind us to another person.”

it probably got lost in cyberspace, haha! anyway, in a nutshell I said that I like this post and that I believe in us having past lives and future lives. that there is reincarnation until we get to redeem ourselves. that we shouldn’t add hate to the universe. that the corrupt officials stealing money away from the masses will become a toad in their next life. hehe.

I believe in reincarnation. I have de javu occasionally. And makes me think that maybe soulmates are not meant to end up together in various lifetimes. Haha! Lol on the corrupt officials part. :)

hmm… very interesting post. at one point or another, the thought of past life comes into our minds. I wonder what my previuos life was.

Happy Halloween!

I think I’ve done some odd online quiz several years ago that let me know who probably I was in my previous life. Of course, I’m not supposed to believe in the results. Mr. Licauco’s regression analysis seems more credible.

wondering if sometimes you are in a situation/place and it is exactly or similar to one of your dreams. weird ha.!? I really enjoy reading your posts and visits your site on a daily basis, morning and afternoon, before going to bed and even when I wake up in the middle of the night.

witsandnuts Reply:

Glad you’re enjoying the posts. Yes, a ‘repeat scenario’ happens to me sometimes. Not really the one from my dreams. But it’s like I would realize, “hey, this happened already!” Also, I get warnings of what may happen through my dreams. Strange, ey.

Yikes. I certainly don’t want to meet anyone I don’t like in another life. I will learn to forgive.

witsandnuts Reply:

Haha. Me, too!

rhea 10.31.08 at 4:10 pm

yay, i don’t want to meet someone in my past that I have already forgiven..coz seeing that person again would make me feel the pain that I once felt because of him/her. guess as time passes, you learn to forgive but somehow..it will never be forgotten. but it will be a good test too though of how much you’ve changed and how well you’ll be able to face the worst. coz the reason you’re committing the same mistakes (thus, “going around in circles”) is because you haven’t learned.

rheas last blog post..what am I writing about?

witsandnuts Reply:

I may not want to meet some people in the next life especially if there’s going to be a role reversal that would entail to my disadvantage. Haha.

BlogusVox 11.01.08 at 10:23 am

I believe in karma. What ever you do, good or bad, will eventually comes back to you. But only in this life. I don’t believe in a life before what we have now. It’s unscientific. What’s funny, Ms.Jo, for a devote catholic, you believe in reincarnation which has its roots in Hinduism. : )

I agree, it’s really strange to hear something like that from me. :) Just that I might be influenced by some personal observations and realizations. However, I hold on to my faith. ;)

Jose 11.01.08 at 3:14 pm

I also believe that we reap whatever we sow in life. And that somehow, on our way back to our Maker, we travel the same path that we took early on in our lives. Only this time, we’re made fully aware already of the mistakes we did and now have the capacity for correcting them. Choosing another path is always our free will but it makes the journey all the longer. And if the path happened to be of the wrong kind, then the journey becomes hell. Now that is very, very hard! But we all know that this is as real as the reality of a heavenly life after death. That is why we should always do our best to sow only the good in life.

I think whether we may have had past lives or not, forgiving, accepting and moving on can do much for our own peace of mind in the here and now.
