After new year’s eve, I was contemplating about this part in one of my favorite books.  And whichever time of the year, I love remembering and realizing it:

None of us enjoys going around in circles, always passing through the same territory and coming back to the same problems, same frustrations, same mistakes, and same limitations.  Although it may often feel like it, there is never a time when nothing is happening in your life.  That’s because whether you realize it or not, you are never standing still.  You are either going forward or you’re sliding back.

Take care, everyone.

bujurman, dubai
Dubai is almost 1.5 hours drive from Abu Dhabi. Except for my Ski Dubai sidetrip, the rest of my visits there were work-related. Most of the time, my friends/former officemates based there take their turn to come here. I almost didn’t note that the last time I came was in April when we had the company annual party in Al Sahra Desert. My turn to see the other fence.  Some of the things that happened as I spent the weekend in Dubai:

(a) Met up with my good friend’s sister and helped her scout a place to stay. We’ve inspected the units I’ve marked from the net. She came to Dubai a week ago and will be based there for work. We’ll hang out again when she does visit me in first weekend of November. Feels like I’m excited to give her a glimpse of Abu Dhabi. I’m thinking of taking her to Lulu Island.

films

The Dark Knight was the last film I’ve seen inside a cinema. Thanks to Eid, I was able to find the kick to catch up with movies. The first three films I catched online and the rest were from the file of long outstanding sees.

My Sassy Girl: I’ve been intending to watch this 6 years ago. Passed the ages and the film is still funny and cute. And theme song is beginning to sound like one of the good classics. Minus the enactment of the crazy scripts by the pretty main actress, it was a nice film. I just can’t imagine if a guy willing to be punched everyday still exists. The love letters in a capsule planted near down the tree is a clever idea. I should have done something like that when I was still in college. I absolutely loved the ending. How’s that meeting “someone from your future’? Watch here.

Emma, our last month’s novel for The Jane Austen Book Club seemed to be less impressive compared to our first read, Persuasion. I must admit that it incidentally was harder for me to dig Emma because I was so bitten by the Cullen virus that time (or until now?!).

I so admire Sinta for being so on time with our reading schedule. If there’s an early bird award, that would surely go to her. :) (I’ve started drafting the mechanics for the December contest. I’ll announce it next month). Like her, there was a time when I was so confused that I didn’t know who Emma would end up with. As to her favorite quote in the book, she wrote:

fuddruckers abu dhabi

For some reasons that I wrote here, we had a night out last Thursday for a treat from four office pals. We had dinner in Fuddruckers. Platters or not, its meals are so huge. Pricing and store layout remind me of Chili’s in some ways.
