Breakfast at Lola Maria's
During my whirlwind vacation, I stayed in Legend Villas a couple of times. It was more of a personal choice. (By the way, this is not a paid post.) There’s something about it that makes me feel at home while metropolis is at its busiest. I think it’s primarily because I resided near that area before I left Philippines. Plus the other nostalgic considerations, i.e. proximity to my favorite establishments, lakwatsa, etc. And to top it all, I heart Lola Maria Coffee Shop.
This is not your ordinary coffee shop. In Lola Maria’s, authentic Filipino buffet happens everyday. I particularly like the breakfast buffet. It has everything that I want for an early munch. Sinangag, tuyo, danggit, fillet, adobo (we’re an adobo nation eh?), and more. You should try their pancit bihon and lomi. One of the best within Metro Manila. And of course, there’s unlimited pouring of tsokolate batirol. I forgot to take a photo because I was busy consuming it. Haha.
I really appreciate that they serve fresh kesong puti. Do you remember the advertisement screaming for kesong puti ng Laguna? In here, I didn’t have to pull off to go to Los Banos just to get a bite, the same way that I no longer had to source danggit (in preceding photo).
You will be served but real salad, that IS fresh bits. I also indulged on salted eggs and ham (with grapes, what a combo).
The kakanins are so Pinoy. Well-whipped. They are serving maja, latik and suman wherein the taste will let you exclaim completos recados.

(The fruits culminate the buffet’s palatability)
This is also a good place for early meet ups. (I go for that.) Like on the day of my flight, I met up with two friends before 7:00 AM, Monday. It was a good moment to savour our time while enjoying a delicious breakfast coupled by kwentuhan and kumustahan.
Its structure is very Filipino. The rooms have capiz in details, each morning a newspaper is supplied in a bayong tied in your door, and other ancestral feel. Near the reception, we got to play dama using tansan (cool!). There’s another game with letters X and O as dice (how do you call that?). And because I didn’t know how to play with it, I just commercially coined XOXO and took a photo. I haven’t watched Gossip Girl, by the way.
The ambiance was extra festive that time since it was December. I hope Lola Maria Coffee Shop will be able to preserve the Filipino home-cooked meals in the busy metropolis.

What a sumptuous buffet. Everything looks so mouthwatering. Now I’m craving for some kakanin.
This looks and feels like a great place. I checked their website, but do they pick up guests at the airport? This is one thing I always liked about hotels. That breakfast is something I’d like to experience.

Near Robinson’s Pioneer. I’ve edited the post to include the location map.
I hope there’s a technology that we can ask the photos from the blog to come out of the monitor, real edible so we can feast.
I really like their kakanins. I’m glad there’s cassava cake and suman sa latik being sold here.
I’m not sure if they pick up guests from the airport. But I suppose they will offer that when needed.
There are Filipinos here selling homemade salted (duck) eggs. Saves the homesickness!
I’d gladly stay for the whole duration of the buffet, 6am to 10am.
I find the rates reasonable. You may check from the link/site. I think the most attractive package is the one for families during weekends.
Lorraine is one of the two friends I met up with at 7am. We were feasting so early!
Now I know your favorite kakanin. Will you have some for your birthday?
I’ve never been to Shopwise Cubao yet.
You’re welcome!
I love batirol. You may also want to try the one from Tsoko.nut. Yummy!
It’s worth visiting.
I remember when we stayed in Royal Mandaya Hotel in Davao (it offers great breakfast buffet, too), we would have super heavy breakfast that we’re still so full by lunchtime. So we skipped lunch and used to have early dinner instead.
Until the next vacation! I’m so looking forward. Heeehee.
That’s a nice reminder. Food related posts normally make me hungry, even if I’m full. Haha.
