How to smell like kebab?

(My oriental kebab lunch: grilled mutton, lamb and chicken on a biyarni (Indian) rice, Iranian salad and Arabic bread)
One of the good deals of being in UAE is you get to taste authentic shawarmas, kebabs, and other one of a kind dishes. I had lunch in Alshuroque, an Iranian restaurant which serves different kebabs. I willingly tried and opted to start with an oriental mix. It was a delicious yet heavy meal. Much as I want to consume all of it, scrutinizing the pieces of the grilled meats, but it was filling enough that I thought my stomach was going to explode.
I actually can consume more than these. Remember my five-hour lunch? Since then I boastfully think I’ve now perfected the art of continuous eating and how to enjoy it without feeling bloated. But I think I gave up with this kebab because it’s not the usual stuff to me, that an oriental mix was too much. I could have just had any of chicken, lamb, or mutton kebab alone first. That’s a little psychology. Lesson learned.
To top it all, I am convinced I smell like kebab after this lunch. Now I can empathize with those smelly people whom I apologetically thought are not observing proper hygiene. See what too much spices can do.

i was thinking that’s one of biggest meat serving for a kebab i’ve seen. i love kebab. i love to eat beef kebab with yogurt or zatziki, but you’re right about the smell, you really end up smelling like beef after the meal.

i am really into shawarmas and kebabs. but a few weeks ago, i needed to bring a Saudi client to dinner. i brought him to Hossein-Serendra that i’ve never been to before. he ordered beef kebab, saffron chicken, shrimp tandoori and homos…and they’re sooooo good! now i’m hooked!

Shawarma, mmmm… I’ve never eaten such without getting dagger looks from my mates. So, lesson learned; now I only take away Shawarmas and savour it in the comforts of my home.
Okay yang dish na yan. I always try it if I’m alone (my wife hates the smell of “karuf”). Pero may kulang. Mashed beans they call “mutabal” as appetizer. They scoop it with that arabic bread called “kobs”.

Authentic shawarmas and kebabs! Though I don’t eat beef, those two are on my list of food to try. Minus the pungent spicy smell if possible.

Hi Ms Wits! Im also from AUH and I enjoyed reading your blog. Ikaw lang yta ang ngiisang Pinay blogger dto. Nways,do you notice puro chicken shawarma available dito kaya mas gusto ko p rin yun beef shawarma sa Pinas.Re pungent smell, I remember my sister saying yung officemate nya e Biryani na ngkatawang tao.LOL
Right, ang bilis ngang makabusog!
I hope you had an immediate source of shawarma after reading this post.
Yes! Pero hindi ko naubos. Sobrang busog nako agad.
I also can’t believe it’s just for one person. Their other sets of meal have bigger servings.
Only late last year that I started to really appreciate Arabic food.
Thanks, Photo Cache.
I hope I’m ‘talented’ enough. Hindi ko naubos. Hindi kinaya ng powers ko.
Heehee, I understand. Mas masarap nga yung street shawarma.
I’m now beginning to like tandoori, too!
I can just imagine how much spices the Indians are putting in.
Haha, I imagine the intent looks your mates are giving you. Shawarmas are delicious. By the way, thanks for visiting.
I’ll try to find the mashed beans next time.
Nothing beats the authentic shawarma.
I like the street shawarma in Mandaluyong. Parang yung ibang streetfood, mas masarap sya kesa yung mga nasa resto. Haha.
I guarantee the authentic ones are tastier.
Lucky you, especially that not eveyone appreciates the smell of mid east food.
I’m not fond of beef, too. Usually I take the chicken shawarma. Pungent smell is really eew.
Hi Jade, thanks for visiting. There are beef shawarmas in some restaurants also. But I think (spicy) chicken shawarma is more popular here.
Lol on Biryani!
