Hello sunshine!

(Taken in March 2008)

I’m revisiting this lovely beach in less than 24 hours. I think it’s a good time to enjoy this kind of sunshine now before the real hot summer comes. Aside from beach paraphernalia and food, music is very important (I hope I won’t forget the mini-speakers). That means real beach tunes. I’m currently listening (to test the reasonableness of sequence) to the first mix/playlist which I named Beach Bop, which is good to keep us bubbly for the first 1.6 hours.

(1) Baby, I Love Your Way (UB40 Big Mountain)*
(2) Everything I Want (Steve Rushton)
(3) Here Comes The Sun (Beatles)
(4) Three Little Birds (Bob Marley)
(5) You To Me Are Everything (Ambelique)
(6) Turn The Lights Low Down (Bob Marley and Lauren Hill)
(7) Lala Means I Love You (Swing Out Sisters)
(8) Easy (Lemar and Lionel Richie)
(9) Stir It Up (Bob Marley)
(10) Bette Davis Eyes (Kim Carnes)
(11) Girl I Want To Make You Sweat (Bob Marley Inner Circle)
(12) I Melt With You (Jason Mraz)
(13) Walk This Way (Run D.M.C.)
(14) One Love (Bob Marley)
(15) Hoedown Throwdown (Miley Cyrus)
(16) Kokomo (Beach Boys)
(17) Everyday (Dave Matthews Band)
(18) Don’t Worry, Be Happy (Bob Marley Bobby McFerrin)
(19) Every Morning (Live) (Sugar Ray)
(20) The Locomotion (Beach Boys)
(21) Islands in the Streams (Bee Gees)
(22) The Doo Wa Ditty (Beach Boys)**
(23) I’m Yours (Jason Mraz)
(24) Red, red wine (Bob Marley UB40)
(25) Lovely Day (Mike Francis)

*I wanted to put in the four versions because they’re all good, but I opted for UB40′s Big Mountain’s for that sunnier-bubblier feeling (if you’re feeling romantic, you’d probably go for the acoustic one).
**Reminds me of Ang TV days

I’ve prepared other mixes to cover slow beach tunes, playlist named Beach Mush which includes Weekend in New England (Bossa Nova), If I Keep My Heart Out of Sight (James Taylor), Don’t Throw It All Away (Bee Gees), etc. Of course, Eraserheads and Dave Matthews Band mixes are ready and not to miss my Pinoy Lalala mix which includes a few songs from Boyfriends and Hotdogs. I’m looking forward to the listeners reaction when they hear Manila. Each time I hear that song, I’m feeling transported back there. Homesickness is both a happy and sad feeling.

Happy weekend, everyone.

Reading this, I suddenly remembered your post on the government’s banning of non-conservative swimwear. So ano ang pwedeng isuot sa beach?

Have fun! :)

i know some songs on the list. don’t ask me where i’ve been =), but the beach looks really inviting. it’s still chilly to go to the beach here although i have no beach plans this summer. the nearest beach here is about 3 hours. i’ll probably just do those garden weekend trips. sigh, so busy at work these days.

Wow, that’s a nice shot of the beach! I am MISSING summer already. I’m flying back to Manila with numb, cracked lips and terribly dry skin because of the cold weather. I’m beat…. :(
Great selection of songs btw. Enjoy!

I love Kokomo! It’s actually in my list of beach wedding music, if ever it happens. Most of the songs up there are what I call Sawy Songs, because they make you sway left and right. I love Sunday Morning by Maroon 5 and Kiss The Girl by Sebastian the Crab in The Little Mermaid.

Thanks, Jeanny. I love coming up with playlists (whichever kind).

I initially included Friends and Let Me In by Mike Francis. But after listening to the entire playlist, I decided I should move these to “Beach Mush” instead. ;)

Yes, I also like Sun is Shining! Bob Marley’s songs are resident citizens in my iTunes.

I will. Enjoy your weekend!

Reply

witsandnuts April 23, 2009 at 6:07 AM

Yes, I do. :)

Guess what? I even watched Hannah Montana the Movie. The second song (Everything I Want) from the playlist is actually (currently) my most favorite. And that’s from Hanna Montana the Movie OST. ;)

And you’ll be welcomed by rainshowers in Manila. I hope you had a safe trip.

We can wear any beach wear in Abu Dhabi. The dress code is implemented in Dubai only. Although I can attest that it’s not strictly being implemented.

Try these the next time you’re headed to the beach.

I absolutely agree. Bossa nova is a great beach companion, especially those of Astrud Gilberto.

Most of the songs from 50 First Dates are so apt to get a beach mood, especially Wouldn’t It Be Nice.

Unpredictable nga ang pag ulan dyan. Dito naman, okay lang kahit umulan kase hindi ganong malakas.
