No, this post is not really about Farm Town (FT). Though I’ve been meaning to do one especially when I was in my most addicted state. Ask the farmers, we all go through that, then loosen up and get challenged again since they introduced new items in FT. But I’d probably dedicate a post about my life as a virtual farmer before or after I reach level 34. The screenshot was taken this morning at level 31, after crops were newly planted and most of the fruits were harvested.
I just want to share the story of The Farmer and the Wheat originally posted in one of my favorite blogs, Faith of a Centurion. This is a gentle reminder to reassess the things that we wish for and how we perceive life.
Once there was a farmer who pleaded with God saying, “Lord, would you let me have control of the weather for one year? I think that I could raise a good quality of wheat.” The Lord agreed. “Just tell me what you want,” he said. The farmer said, “I want sun,” and the sun came out. After sometime he said, “Let there be rain,” and rain fell. For a whole year, the farmer had sun and rain whenever he wanted it.
When the wheat was tall and ready for the harvest, the farmer beamed with satisfaction, but when he cut the first stalks of wheat, his heart sank. The wheat stalks were practically empty. “What did I do wrong?” he asked the Lord.
The Lord said, “You never asked me for strong winds and fierce storms — these are the things that make tall wheat strong and sturdy. You asked only for what was pleasant, that was your mistake.”
That explains why, whoever developed the Farm Town application, our farms are hit by tornadoes occasionally. As I wrote in my preceding post, “You probably just don’t notice it, but life really gets better and more beautiful starting each time we wake up. It’s like having an accumulated balance of experiences since the day we were born and when we look back in a flash, all that we’ve got in life are actually all blessings. The hard times are also God’s graces to us in a different form.”
Have a great day everyone!
