Stuff that you could hardly replicate

cajun fries from popeyes
(Popeyes cajun fries with garlic mayonnaise as dip)

I’m currently addicted to cajun fries from Popeyes. I’ve been trying (hard) to replicate this by using/modifying this recipe, but no success. The effort amounted to previous attempts to replicate Jollibee’s chicken joy, KFC’s original recipe, Razon’s halo halo, etc. There must be a secret ingredient and whipping, of course. My attempts would sometimes result in a better version. But among these replication projects, I’ve never equated or surpassed the yumminess of street fishballs, squidballs, and the like. It must be the germs.

Hindi lang germs. Yung pawis na galing sa kili-kili nung nagluluto ang nagpapasarap nun. >: D

It must be the germs! haha No matter how much we try, there’s really something delicious about street foods, just don’t ask where and how they prepare it. Sometimes, it’s good to be not in the know.

I used to work at Jollibee and I thought I could learn the secrets of making their famous chickenjoy or even just the spaghetti sauce, but I failed. Everything was delivered already preapred—the breading for the chicken, the powder to make the gravy with, and the sauces of their spaghetti and palabok.

Popeyes is my favorite chicken house period :) Cajun cooking rocks, tastes better than the boring KFC. I’d pay more for Popeye’s anytime ;)

I have a feeling it’s good ‘ol fast food grease. It’s that magic oil that they fry everything in! I don’t know how your Cajun Fries of choice tastes exactly, but maybe if you used some seasoned salt, that might make them yummier! (Hi, J!) :)

I love POPEYE’s fries too :( too bad they don’t have branches in the Phils. anymore. I only get to eat that when we’re in HK airport.

Yep, germs ang biggest contributor sa mga fishballs, chicken balls, squidballs, taho, dirty ice cream, scramble, etc. Good germs kasi hindi tayo nagkakasakit sa pagkain ng street food. LOL!

I love Popeye’s too but so sad that they don’t have it here in Pinas anymore. Just like u8mypinkcookies, the last time I had Popeye’s was when I visited HK.

I also like KFC’s fries. Unlike you, hindi ko mareplicate. Kaya nagpapadeliver nalang ako. Haha.

they sell this kind of fries in the supermarket which is like KFC’s.. try looking for FRENCHIES ZESTY COATED FRIES.. :) basta the name is something like that. A pack would cost around 65-70 bucks only and ang dami na nya!

Germs!! Lol!
McDo’s Twister fries are back in Manila, and I’ve been having my fill before it’s gone again. I just hate it when it gets under my tongue. Ang hirap tanggalin. :D
