Chillin' at Chili's

chili's

The branches of Chili’s in Abu Dhabi are normally jampacked. We were lucky to catch its branch in Khalidiyah in its quiet state when we dined there after the English mass on an early Friday. (That’s the official prayer day in UAE. Hence, that forms the weekend + a Saturday. Workweek starts on a Sunday.)

I was craving for Pancake’s taco that moment. We ordered Chicken Club Taco. Semi-wrapped are grilled mesquite chicken breast, chopped crispy beef bacon, diced tomatoes, mixed cheeses and lettuce, with chipotle-ranch dressing.

The tacos are served with rice and black beans.

We also had Monterey Chicken and Shrimp Combo.

Woweee, the chicken with cheese and bacon strips on it is so yumeeeh! The shrimps tasted good as well.

The combo is served with veggies and loaded mashed potatoes. Again, I’m in the mood to replicate this kind of potato whipping. I wonder how they made the bacon bits on top hardy-crunchy with no after-taste of being overcooked.

We tried their Molten Chocolate Cake. It’s so fancy and palatable. But honestly, I liked Starbucks’ (in Abu Dhabi) version better. Reminded me, too, of Mexican brownie in Cantina Laredo.

I have high tolerance for sweets. But this one’s too sweet for me. The vanilla ice cream failed to save it. I’ll stick with other desserts next time.

You had them all on a Friday morning?! Hindi nga?

My last Chili’s experience was ah….3 yrs ago. Madami na rin kasing ibang restaurants kaya nakalimutan ko na ang Chili’s.

Your post made me want to revisit them.

waah inggit ako!!! one of our favorite restos yang chilis when we were still in Dubai… We also dined in their Khalidiya branch before. We so miss it coz there’s no Chili’s here, closest one is in the UK, egads. My favorites are chicken crispers, pasta alfredo, and their corn is really good.

I also liked their molten chocolate cake, parang i don’t remember it as overly sweet parang dark chocolate sya when we used to have it.

The in-demand status of a resto adds mystique to it I guess. Love the look on that taco. I’m not really into Mex food, but I will try that next month.
