My favorite section in the supermarket
I’ve never fully understood before why my relatives and friends get overwhelmed when we send them polovoron , Choc Nut and other ordinary and small stuff (as I used to think). At times, I even can’t stand the endless appreciation they show as if I’ve done something extraordinary. Until I’ve been away from the Philippines. Now it feels like witnessing a miracle whenever I would see (and of course, eat) pork barbeque, mangga’t bagoong, etc. Hence, whenever I go to the supermarket, I visit the Filipino section without fail. Just like almost two weeks ago, I spotted chocolate mallows on the stand for the first time. It’s not a regular item there. So, I hoarded (with my eyes twinkling!) like 9 boxes. Hahaha. Big wish, I hope to see flat tops and curly tops next time.
You won’t know how much you’re missing until it becomes scarce. That’s also me saying that we should appreciate whatever we have.
for sure, mahal mga pinoy food diyan noh? ay ay ay may nakita kong chocnut oh! how much diyan? dito P34.
Awwww.. pinoy tlaga ang panglasa. =D And I agree,, we should always appreciate what we have. Magbebenta nga ako ng Boy Bawang dyan. Meron ba?

i would literally jump whenever i see Pinoy food in some Asian market i find here. i love Filipino food and i don’t think i can live without it.

i love how they have the philippine flag to take the guesswork out of spotting the philippine food section! asian grocery stores here group products according to type, not country of origin. e.g., noodles in one aisle, condiments in another.

tama ka wits. yung 3 weeks lang na bakasyon sa ibang bansa, hinanap hanap ko ang Filipino food! iba kasi pag nakasanayan mo na!

We get ours from Pinoy stores cum restaurants here. Almost everything is available here nowadays. Likewise Chinese supermarkets also have a Pinoy foods section

ganun ata talaga pag nasa abroad, we get to be excited at seeing simple pinoy foods or home-grown products. i remember when we’re in auckland, new zealand for 7 week vacation few years back, we had the same reaction going through shelves at a pinoy store there with ligo sardines, ufc banana ketchup, and yes, chippy and chocnut are classics!!! i wonder if foreigners and expats here in manila feel the same way when they see their products at groceries here.

ako everytime na wala ako sa Phil. lagi ako nag hahanap ng mga filipino food sa supermarket… naalala ko dati nung nagpunta kami sa japan ang dried mango nya nasa 150 na ata un, pero dito sa Phil 3 for 100
jo, you are very lucky to have that in your supermarket. my best friend lives in a small town in the netherlands and the closest thing that they can get to pinoy food is a chinese takeout (which just opened a month ago, by the way, haha!)

buti na lang pinoy stores are everywhere, kahit saan kasi may pinoy. Sa Japan ang paboritong naming bilhin sa store e yung mga sinigang mix

Ay, that’s great. Haven’t seen a chocnut here in Saudi. Siguro parating pa lang. I feel proud whenever I see a Filipino section in big stores here in Saudi like Lulu Center and Tamimi.
