Go with the experience

If you have to choose between buying something or spending the money on a memorable experience, go with the experience.

According to a study conducted at San Francisco State University, the things you own can’t make you as happy as the things you do. One reason is adaptation: we adapt to all things material in our lives in a matter of weeks, no matter how infatuated we were with the coveted possession the day we got it. Another reason is that experience, unlike possession, generally involves other people, and fosters or strengthens relationships that are more edifying over time than owning something.

This supports my preference for travelling next to basic necessities and other things. What about you?

    you said it perfectly!

except for a basic Fortuner, we buy everything else from flea market hihi. We save and try new experience — travel if we can.

Most recent display of such choice was my son’s 2nd birthday. instead of a party, we opted to experience Burj Al Arab and had a quiet family celebration just the three of us :)

Btw, my husband is interested to visit Emirates Palace. Can i ask which restaurant will you recommend? Thank you so much for the visit! I will add you to my blog list.

Enjoy the rest of the week!

I want to agree, but for now, I cannot. The kids need their education as much as possible and everything they need, and the savings for what they will need is top priority for me.

    Ay, sooo true!

And yes, I’ll try to remember that whenever someone invites me to travel or try something new (like eat out in a new resto)!

This is my new mantra: it’s not the material things…it’s the experience!
