Rainbow always works

noynoy aquino in UAE broadsheet

(This article appeared on one of the UAE’s broadsheets a day before the national elections in the Philippines. Quoting Noynoy Aquino as “an early favourite to win”. As they say, Noynoy without Mar is like Frodo without Sam. But it must be interesting to see him working with Jejomar Binay who was former President Cory Aquino’s first appointed local official after the EDSA revolution.)

It felt like my heart was bleeding during the first few hours of votes canvassing. I voted for Gibo Teodoro (with Dick Gordon as an alternate) and Mar Roxas, with no one else in my mind. The skyrocketing votes for Noynoy Aquino was no surprise, but it IS for Joseph Estrada and Jejomar Binay [it really helped to be nicknamed "Jejemon Binay", have the support from the brothers (Alpha Phi Omega), the endorsement of Chiz Escudero who has a significant youth following, and other factors].

If I would be asked to vote again, I will have the same choice. And I think you will, too, because we believe in our respective candidates. Our varied (informed) choices dictate that there is more than one who CAN really lead. That feels and sounds more than great.

Our candidates did not make it. Shall we spend the next six years being a pessimist? I am sure you will not.

The colors may divide us, but a rainbow shall work. Would you like to know how it feels when you are inside and under a rainbow? Everything is nice, professional skepticism would be around, but at the end of the day it shall only spell optimism.

i still have doubts. i believe in the “we shall see.” i have yet to see what these leaders can do.

No you don’t abandon your belief in your candidate, win or lose. But we all have to accept the mandate of the masses.

I was for Al Gore but didn’t vote and bitterly rode out 4 years of Bush. On his reelection, made sure that I vote for whats-his-name Democratic candidate, who lost. Again I rode out another 4 years of Bush.

“Noynoy without Mar is like Frodo without Sam”–funny analogy!

    i voted for Mar. :(

my parents voted for Gibo too. so i was hoping he would win, because i trust my parents’ choices. i havent been following the philippine campaigns and everything but i think that no matter who our leaders will be, our country will still not improve if we, the Filipino people will not do our part. The change must begin within ourselves.

Gibo was a very good guy. It was just the wrong time for him to run. I hope that Noynoy offers him a Cabinet position because he deserves a second chance.

How have you been? Take care always, my friend.

Yay! I voted for Gibo as well although I knew that he had no chance of winning hehehe I still firmly believed in his leadership qualities.

Let us all just pray that he who won won’t fail us and would learn to think for himself without being influenced by groups with vested interests. God bless our beloved nation! :)

we both have the same choice for Pres and VP. But I didn’t vote as I haven’t gone thru dual citizenship yet.

But as a Filipino, I am praying and will be supporting the new leaders of our nation, wherever I may be. the Phils is still and will always be home and I respect whoever leads our country.

i like your analogy on frodo and sam. haha. sayang. they’re a great tandem.

sana nga we shelve out our differences na. wala naman mangyayari if everyone keeps on complaining. 13 million votes is obviously a majority. so the people are heard.

I also voted for Mar…(is there still a chance for him to get the VP post?)

Anyway, the number of Pinoys who participated in the recently concluded election showed our HOPE for a better future (governance). And this (being hopeful) is something already, right?

i also thought that gibo would win coz he’s my bet and i know for a fact that most of my friends, batchmates, previous officemates, families and relatives also voted for him. noynoy’s lead didn’t come as a surprise. erap did knocked me off my head. anyways, i just hope that something good will come out this time. I want to feel optimistic on the noynoy-binay tandem.

kudos to the 1st automated elections! it was really fast! :)

We voted for the same people. I’m sad that Gibo didn’t make it but I haven’t lost hope for Mar.

hehe. NoyNoy and Mar reminds of Sam and his bestfriend of the Lord of the Rings movie. They need each other to dethrone the evil. Pero pano kung si Sam lang and the creature/monster?
