Cupcakes for Noynoy

devil's cupcake with butter frosting
(PNoy cupcakes)

I was coaching two padawans (that sounds very Star wars; it means apprentice/student) last weekend on how to make cupcakes. We baked devil’s cupcakes and whipped butter frosting. Just because it is yellow, we decided to call it cupcakes for Noynoy.

[They experimented on the icing forms. To bake (and to eat together) is one of the fun ways to spend quality time.]

It is interesting how we tend to associate almost anything yellow to some of the Aquinos. In my most recent vacation, I noticed Ninoy Aquino mobile phones being sold inside the malls, amongst other special edition stuff. I am imagining right now the color, figuratively and literally, of the inauguration. As I am writing this, I am watching the local news providing a preview to the menu and other preparations for tomorrow. I am wishing that I can be home all day to watch the live coverage of his oath-taking.

Starting 30th of June, a lot of things is going to change. A number of officials are re-embracing their privacy, but not for our outgoing president GMA. I used to like a her a lot for being so smart. Apparently, being smart is both a strength and a weakness. Although I did not vote for Noynoy, I am trying to keep an open mind. Someone can be likeable enough in the end. What one does is going to ultimately speak for a person. So, let us all work hard for the big change. He can not do it alone.

Updated (30th June 2010): Here is the video of the inaugural speech of President Benigno Aquino III, the 15th president of the Republic of the Philippines:

great idea. mabenta to. i even think of making an art for him. We have our own opinion, we have our own rights. And I like the way you say it in the last paragraph. Corruption lang naman talaga ang ugat.

too many big words, too many references to his parents. i may not agree with some of his ideas but i share his hope for a better Philippines. oddly enough, i feel really lighter today — as if everything is going to be alright. :) perhaps i should eat something yellow din today. hehehe…

LOL din at “padawan”. i love that word. and i didn’t need the preceding statement to tell me what it was! nerd alert! :P ahaha…
