What Leo Messi can do

by witsandnuts on July 3, 2010

Leo Messi

KFC was not that competitive in the UAE until the football star Leo Messi print ads were out. The consistently dry chicken, far different from the yummy version in Manila, are now selling like hotcakes.

I randomly recalled two products that I liked a lot (and I still do) and were very much a part of my younger life. I have lost count how many jars of Milo and liters of Royal Tru Orange I have consumed. But my preference for these products were mainly driven by the very charming ads that featured Bea Lucero and RJ Ledesma, respectively, in their amiable youth.

My ad-driven preferences in my yesteryears also included anything Penshoppe (when Ryan Agoncillo was a newbie), Close-up toothpaste (with Gino Padilla’s You and I theme, old version), Johnson’s lotion, and a lot more. But now that I have wisen up (ehem, ehem), the endorser hardly matters to me.

the endorser doesn’t matter in my choice of products but I really liked those jollibee ads before.

Even without the ads, I will always like Jollibee. :) I remember most the ad with “I love you, Sabado” line.

I love how he is able to get in a lot of moolah for KFC. Go Leo Messi!

The star players really benefit from that. :)

ako din…i don’t go for a product because of the endorsers.

but i remember my sister telling me what kc concepcion did for palmolive, as well as leah salonga for bayo… talaga namang they were able to shoot up the sales of the products they were endorsing. galing!

Oo nga, Bayo campaign was strengthened by Lea’s endorsement. I have no idea about KC’s effect on Palmolive sales. Mas nag-mark pa rin sa akin yung commercial ni Alice Dixon na may line na “I can feel it!”. Haha.

agree! quality of products are more important of course than its endorsers, at least for the wise consumers.

Although minsan nakaka-engganyo talagang bumili pag endorsed ng mga paborito natin. ;)

Aba, football fan kana pala ngayon. Hehe, ang misis ko, bibilhin anything endorsed by Sharon. >: D

Naku, not a football fan. Pinicture-an ko lang yung ad. :) Kahit na endorser is Messi ng KFC, Popeye’s pa rin binibili ko. ;)

I remember a highschool friend, sobrang fan sya ni Sharon Cuneta. Pati signature nya ginagaya.

ngayon nlng ako ulit nakadalaw. bago nanaman ba layout mo? i still don’t get wordpress kaya ayan, naka 2 posts palang ako sa wordpress blog ko. haha

anyway, madali ka pala maimpluwensyiahan ng ads ha. okay ka maging subject ng experiment. hahaha. pero i remember both ads too. though im not sure if i were influenced by them.

naku, ewan ko ba pero bigla nlng sumikat ang football dito sa manila. lahat nlng ng tao kilala ung players. si cristiano ronaldo lng kilala ko eh. hehe.

Same layout. I just tweaked the colors and fonts. :) Give wordpress another try.

I am no longer easily influenced by the ads. Noon lang sobrang bata pa ako. Milo days.

ako lang ata sa mga readers mo jo ang influenced by the endorsers – talk about aga muhlach and john lloyd hahaha!! anything yan walang palya. buti nalang wala pa silang brief endorsements kundi lagot na hahaha! biogesic shoot up when jlc came in! :)

Basta endorsed ni JLC, understood na yan. Hahaha.

Iba talaga an influence ng popular celebrity endorser. Like gaya ng john lloyd ‘s charisma at alam mo ba ano ang mabiling notebooks sa regions? basta cover kim chui nauubusan stocks. Hindi ako bias ha. lol. I love KFC. hinahanap ko yan.

I find Kim Chui charming. :)

same here im not into the endorser thing kasi sometimes i dont believe if they are really using the products they endorse most specifically those whitening stuff. naman eh mapuputi na sila hahah. pero nakakatawa lang ads before like si carmina during her jollibee days.

I remember Carmina Villaroel’s ad for a sanitary napkin. I’m not sure if that was for Modess or Newtex. But she was so cute there. Ang laki din siguro ng tinaas ng sales ng product na yun after that TV commercial.
