Guess what? The big cat (that’s me! Winello and Perdita being the small cats) has learned a new trick.
That’s me on my pyjamas randomly playing the first piece I memorized >>> none other than Love Me Tender (by Elvis Presley). While my fingers are still a little uncomfortable, I’m happy enough. Not bad for a (super) beginner. I’m also enjoying how the process of notes reading, etc. nurtures my patience. And of course, no matter how trapped we may seem by busyhood, if we want it, we can make it happen.
So far I learned these three songs, by intention/ as matter of priority:
Love Me Tender – for no particular reason. I guess because it’s calming and has sort of connected me to some family members, especially my late grandmother.
Jingle Bells – so that I’m more than ready for Christmas (hahaha) being one of my favorite occasions.
Happy Birthday to You - since it’s most widely sung in the Earth. Seriously, it’s because tomorrow is a brand new year for me and I want to play my own Happy Birthday song. Heehee.
Meanwhile, these are in-progress and are still too difficult for the newbie me: Moon River, Morning Has Broken, Your Song and Don’t Know Why. Target completion: before end of this year. Basta. Hahaha.
I’m very grateful for the past years for all the lessons learned and new discoveries/ surprises in life — including the piano playing. It’s fulfilling to be a student of life forever. Let’s not be afraid to try new things for the better.
