The Lobby @ Etihad Towers, Abu Dhabi

We recently peeked in Jumeirah at Etihad Towers  (near the Emirates Palace) to specifically try the high tea buffet at the Lobby Lounge. As we entered the main entrance of Tower 1, we were greeted by the elegance of the lobby. Further to our reservation, we were seated within that circle as shown in the photo.

Apparently, everyone would be comfortable wherever they sit. The set-up was designed to give everyone a nice view. (Apart from the fact that the beauty and intricacy of the lobby itself is a view.) However, us getting a better view may not be purely coincidental since I requested it when I called the reservation desk. While reservation is not mandatory to other guests, you may have to do it if you were visiting like us in line with the online deals (e.g. Groupon restaurant deals). I really appreciate that although I did not comply with the requirement to book at least 48 hours in advance, our request was accommodated. Although the person on the other line was understandably hesitant, she confirmed it the moment she cleared that our intended time of visit was feasible.

Soon enough, our food was served.

(The berries reminded me of The Hunger Games the movie.)

The high tea buffet will include a coffee or tea of your choice and literally a generous selection and serving of sandwiches, cookies and desserts.

They serve teas from the TWG collection from Singapore. We initially wanted to try the chocolate or creme brûlée tea, but opted for the white night Jasmine tea because (1) it would level off the sweets indulgence (2) to kill the curiosity — look, it is the most expensive amongst the tea choices (i.e. priced at 150% higher than or 2.5 times of the other choices); verdict: it (of course) tasted better than the other (now I personally dubbed as normal) Jasmine teas. On the other hand, the Happy Birthday tea although intriguing is not timely. While iced coffee/ chocolate was not part of the menu, they accommodated our request. And save the best for last — raspberry cucumber juice.

The sweets were all nice but we found the macaroon cookies just oh-kay.

This one’s a must-try.

The view augments the experience.

(Here is West Corniche of Abu Dhabi.)

Or the food augments the visual feast?  We got both. A worth it deal from Groupon.

The timed dipping effect of water by the windows complemented the view and lounge-y background music.  I expect that there will be a grand piano anywhere in the lounge soon.

I didn’t know there’s groupon now in the UAE :) Been addicted to their deals lately.
I wouldn’t mind indulging on a high tea experience myself if groupon does have a deal in my neck of the woods.

Food and view is breathtaking! Jumeirah indeed has nailed hospitality experience. I love everything about the food except for the smoke salmon hihi. I’ll eat caviar and foie gras but not smoked salmon.

Thank you for showing us how high tea is served. I hope to try soon =)

Hubby once had a conference here so it’s out of his list for staycation. I am still thinking ways how to trick him to stay for the night =D

I would love to someday go to a high tea. Hope I’d be wearing some Victorian costumes when I do that.

I’m a big fan of Group On (and Living Social & Bloomspot, etc) because they allow me to sample places and restaurants I wouldn’t otherwise.
